Single-mode fibres are available in 3, 5, 8, 10,15, 20 and 30m lengths.
Single-mode fibre cables are normally bright yellow (this is an industry standard). ADOT has special custom single-mode fibre cables produced in Grey, at no additional cost.
Why Single Mode Fibre?
ADOT fibre network kits use Multi-mode fibre technology. Multi-mode fibres are rugged and the LC terminations have considerable tolerance.
An alternative technology is to use a single-mode fibres, which use a much thinner fibre, and have reduced jitter by avoiding multiple path lengths. Normally only used for extreme length fibre infrastructure of many kilometres, it is now possible to enjoy the benefits of single-mode fibres in an ADOT environment.
To use a single-mode fibre, different SFP adapters are required, and ADOT offers a simple Evaluation Kit comprising:
1 x 1.5m single-mode fibre
2 x matching SFP for single-mode fibre
Complete ADOT kits with Single-mode fibres are now available for all our MC range.
